Southbound

It's been said that all paintings are self portraits of the artists that create them. You may have guessed from my paintings that I drive a lot and you'd be right. I also sit in a lot of traffic (thanks Baltimore!) but that gives me a chance to get familiar with sights like this overpass. This is 5 x 7 oil on canvas panel. Cap Spartel

This is a lighthouse located in Morocco and it marks the opening to the Strait of Gibraltar.  I painted this scene from a picture taken on my honeymoon.

For Rent

Bird houses are like rental properties without the legal mess. Birds are supposed to live there, rent free, and eat all of the bird seed provided without having to do much else.   Then when the weather gets bad, they just go south...sounds like the life. 

Baltimore Harbor Tunnel North

I pass through the northbound entrance to the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel on my way home virtually every day.  If the southbound entrance gets out of your way, the northbound entrance welcomes you home with its giant outstretched arms.

Two Halves

This month's egg theme continues with this broken Cadbury Creme Egg. This candy reminds us that Spring is near. They are only available during this time of the year, so this was a special treat to both eat AND paint.  It is painted on 6 x 6 gessoed illustration board.

Baltimore Harbor Tunnel South

The Baltimore Harbor Tunnel is a beautiful example of post-war American architecture. The buildings are set off to the side in a gesture that almost says "I know you have some place to be, why don't you go ahead."

Yummy! This is the second egg painting in the series. Doesn't it look good enough to eat?  It is painted on 6 x 6 gessoed illustration board.

Intersection

 I enjoy the details of this painting. At first glance, you do not notice the houses off in the distance, because the brightness of the headlights demands your attention.  Upon further examination of the painting, you are able to enjoy all of its details.  This is 9 x 12 on hardboard.

Main Line

This painting captures the feeling of a secluded place. For a moment, you forget that you’re at a stop sign. I like how your eye immediately looks at the red sign and then travels to the rest of the painting.
